(F) PHT00 atlas (Paxinos et al., 2000) overlaid with area boundaries of the current study. (D, E, I, J) Sharp gradient-ridges vary across EVLs, suggesting areal boundaries. The area boundaries resemble those mapped by Hackett and colleagues. Therefore, we followed their areal/subareal nomenclature (Hackett et al., 1999; Kaas and Hackett, 2000).
