SCENE:
Figure 1

DESCRIPTION:
Spatial maps of (A) mean curvature, (B) uncompensated cortical thickness, and (C) globally compensated cortical thickness on the inflated cortical surface of a representative individual from the HCP-YA cohort. Insets of the medial prefrontal cortex highlight the spatial
correspondence among maps, where regions with high positive curvature (e.g., gyri, bright areas in A) tend to appear thicker (red) in traditional thickness maps (B), an effect slightly attenuated in the globally compensated thickness map (C). (D) shows the group-average map of globally compensated cortical thickness, which illustrates the spatial distribution of cortical thickness after a partial correction of folding effects at the individual level and a marked attenuation of folding-related cortical thickness effects at the group level due to averaging of non-corresponding folding patterns across individuals. The black dots show the same locations in each image. (L: Lateral, M: Medial, SR: Single Regression)
